Our story

Northern Healthcare was founded in 2013, with the modest aim of providing supported living accommodation for a relatively small number of people with serious and enduring mental health problems.

Since opening our first service in Cumbria in 2013, Northern Healthcare has now evolved to become a national organisation with services across the North West, Cumbria, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

Celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week 2024!

Mental Health Awareness Week is coming to a close, and we wanted to reflect on how we've supported it over the past seven days. In this article, we're going to recap what Mental Health Awareness Week is about, the theme…

Each of our services are unique; our teams and the people we support make our houses special. From how they choose to decorate, what activities will take place there, or what the garden might look like – everything is done with the people who we support at the centre of decision-making.

It’s not about achieving ‘exceptional’ things, our teams take it a day at a time, set realistic goals and celebrate every success, no matter how small along the way.

Our teams also work hard to build relationships within the wider community, many of the people in our care practice religion, volunteer at local organisations or attend college classes.
