Our supported living services are full of activities with a busy calendar of group cooking classes, exercise classes, health and nutrition workshops, 1-2-1 time and occupational therapy to suit everyone’s needs and help the people we support reach their recovery goals. Here is a little insight into life at Grainger House, our supported living service located in Cradley Heath.

Team members and residents donned their Christmas jumpers in support of Save The Children Christmas Jumper Day.
Grainger House were thrilled to visit Birmingham’s Kitty Café! Our residents were delighted to visit the cat rescue centre and cat café. They spent the rest of the afternoon in Birmingham town visiting different shops.
In preparation for Halloween the team and residents from Grainger House repurposed their Christmas Tree to create a Halloween Tree – a great idea to add some spooky sparkle!
Grainger House also marked breast cancer awareness day, the team all wore pink, and everyone enjoyed pink cakes, strawberry milkshakes and ice cream! The team and residents also completed a quiz to build their knowledge of cancer awareness.

Grainger House residents have been busy baking and cooking up lots of delicious foods over the last couple of weeks, including tiramisu and akin salt fish. Residents loved preparing the dishes and sat with the team to enjoy tasting the finished products. In addition, the team and residents at Grainger House also threw a party to celebrate the Northern Healthcare Awards, and decorated a cake to celebrate team member Jade winning Support Worker of the Year!
To celebrate Afternoon Tea Week, our Grainger House residents enjoying making some fresh scones with cream and jam, as well as a variety of cakes for everyone to enjoy.
Our team and residents at Grainger House donned their Union Jack hats and had a Jubilee BBQ to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the weekend!
The local PCSO visited Grainger House last week – everyone enjoyed tea and biscuits while the PCSO discussed safety, the local area, and how to report any concerns.
Our residents asked lots of questions, including how heavy their vests were – one officer let one of our residents try on the vest to see for himself!
The PCSOs plan to visit Grainger House again next month with a police constable.
Our residents at Grainger House wanted to hold a baby shower for one of our Support Workers as she is due to go on maternity leave shortly. The residents prepped food, baked a home made cheese cake, made decorations and guessed baby names and weights 👶 It was a lovely afternoon enjoyed by all!
Residents from Grainger House enjoyed rustling up some homemade pancakes and taste testing their efforts. Delicious!
Residents from Grainger House have started gardening to brighten up the outside areas. They also planted a cute little flower pot for the staff office! Our residents really enjoyed the activity and are looking forward to taking care of their plants and watching them grow.
One of our Grainger House residents set up a Music Night for both staff and residents to enjoy at the weekend. There was a buffet and of course plenty of music! 🎶
This year, Grainger House have thought outside the box for Halloween! Our team supported residents in creating and decorating a Halloween tree. 🌲🎃
Residents have also been watching films and listening to Halloween music, with more spooky activities planned for the next few weeks, including decoration making, baking, games and face painting.
Grainger House celebrated World Mental Health Day on Sunday by encouraging residents to write down their positive affirmations, future goals, and the things they are grateful for. Residents and staff then added their notes (folded for confidentiality) into a jar, which was painted by two of our residents.
Art can play a valuable role in helping improve our mental health – especially right now. At Grainger House the residents & team have spent the last few weeks creating a beautiful mural. Well done to Grainger House who worked incredibly hard on this project!
