As part of a guided reflective activity residents from Helena’s House discussed their journey to Northern Healthcare. Marilyn one of our residents who particularly enjoys putting pen to paper decided to write about her journey to share with the team:
“Since I have come to Helena’s House, my life is so much happier, I am able to go out to the shops now and I can even do this on my own. Since I have come here I have learnt how to make cakes and I can now knit, I can also make Christmas ornaments out of salt dough.
I love to write poetry and I now have a typewriter to do this. I write poems for my family and the lovely staff in Helena’s. I love all arts and crafts as I am very creative and there is always lots of activities going on for me to join in. I really enjoyed making poppies for Remembrance Sunday as I really appreciate what our forces (have) done for us all.
I also like to go on long walks in the summer and short walks in the winter, I get a bit frightened in the dark, but when I get in my room and put my TV on I feel warm and cozy. I love to help the staff.”
