The Great British Care Awards celebrates excellence across the care sector with twenty-five award categories, they pay tribute to organisations and individuals who demonstrate outstanding excellence in their field of work.
Northern Healthcare’s Accrington-based supported living service, Milnshaw House, has been shortlisted for Care Team Award which will be awarded to a team who have an excellent communication process and can demonstrate a commitment to dignity and privacy for the people they support.
Wakefield-based supported living service, Hyde Park House, has been shortlisted for the Putting People First Award which looks to recognise a team who have “embraced the ‘Putting People First’/Personalisation agenda and can demonstrate an innovative approach to empowering people to have more control over the support they need in their lives.”
Daniel Colquhoun, Team Leader at supported living service Kirk House, in Carlisle has been shortlisted for the Care Newcomer Award which honours and celebrates a new member of staff and their impact on their organisation.
Debra Wadsworth, Occupational Therapy Support Worker at supported living service Montgomery House, in Radcliffe has been shortlisted for the Care Home Activity Organiser Award; this award honours an individual who has “demonstrated the ability to provide a ‘needs-led,’ varied, and engaging programme tailored to care home residents.”
Debra’s recognition follows her recent win of the Joy Maker Award in the Care Home division at this year’s national Stars of Social Care Awards. The Joy Maker Award celebrates “a special individual who brings joy and happiness to both colleagues and service users,” making Debra’s contribution to the community all the more impressive.
Commercial Director, Alistair Hannah-Briggs, commented:
“To have four finalists in the regional finals at the Great British Care Awards amongst some of the best in health social care is remarkable!
This is a testament to the passion, commitment, and skill of our workforce, who work tirelessly every day to improve the lives of the people we support.
Congratulations to our colleagues, and the rest of the finalists. You are already winners in our eyes, and we are incredibly proud.”
